“Screenagers” is Coming!
We are very excited to bring the movie, “Screenagers”, to Schmucker on Monday, March 19 at 6:30 pm. This is a joint effort among all the middle schools PTOs to bring parents an interesting look at the positives and negatives of students’ screen time. Please take time to attend this event. There will be a short question and answer session afterward. Students are welcome to attend as well.
IUSB Reading Program
We do now have information about IUSB’s summer reading program in guidance. Please contact us and we can send information home with your student or via email.
End of Grading Period
The end of the 3rd grading period is Friday, March 23.
Students are encouraged to check HAC weekly to keep progress of their grades. If a parent needs their log in for HAC, please email one of us and we will get that to you.
Suicide Prevention Lessons
These lessons happened during the week of Jan. 16 for both 7th and 8th graders. Counselors sat in these presentations that were done in Health classes. The big take away for students is to get an adult involved if they believe their friend might be having suicidal thoughts or are suicidal. Ask your child about the SIT method: S – show your friend you are concerned and that you care; I – inquire or ask your friend directly if they are having thoughts of suicide; T – take your friend to get help from a trusted adult. Several resources/hotlines were also shared.
Students are encouraged to talk to a trusted adult if they know someone who is having suicidal thoughts. Below are resources students can use to talk/text with a trained professional.
Crisis Text Line: text “GO” to 741741 to text to a trained professional about your thoughts and feelings.
